The Lavant exhibit was also impressive, as expected.  There were many cover stones that were removed from the graves of the wealthy, mostly business owners.  That area of the world became wealthy because of the growing trade from the east to the European continent.  Sitting right in the middle, the cities in this area were stopping points for caravans of traders.

The most impressive item I saw was in the Mesopotamia exhibit.  The Code of Hammurabi is one of the oldest records of law and writing.  It is from the first kingdom of Babylon.

Somewhere in there, we decided to get a lunch break at the cafeteria in the Louvre lobby.  It was actually a great meal and it inly cost us about 45 euros ($60 US).  This cafeteria is to the left when you first walk into the pyramid.  You have to go all the way down then back up the Richelieu stairs, then take a left.  Great food!

Right after lunch we went and looked at the French Sculptures exhibit. The French Renaissance produced many great sculptures, of course.

These sculptures came in all mediums, stone, plaster, bronze... you name it.

This section went on forever, too.  If you want to study this era, you could do well here.

It was interesting to see all the college art students here sketching their assignments or practicing their trade.  It was hard to turn a corner in this area without stepping over two or three huddling in a corner.
