The first days of REAL work - Part 1 of 3

On October 9, 2004, we officially broke ground on the new cabin in Arkansas.ï¿½ï¿½This is a moment we have been looking forward to!

We started by getting a rough idea of where the structure would sit.ï¿½ï¿½I taught the boys what little I know about placement (30 seconds) of a structure, then we used a rope with measured knots in it to find the center point.ï¿½ï¿½

After confirming that a tree needed to be removed, we chopped down a 53 year old Pine tree that will live on as the center post of the new cabin.ï¿½ï¿½It will be left in as natural a state as possible after the bark is removed.

It got caught in the trees so we had to use the Explorer to pull the bottom out and fall all the way. The boys watched from a safe distance behind a tree.
