Two Dinners, 1 Brunch and a High Tea. |
|
|
We were able to get our favorite server Annie Marie from South Africa for most of our Palos dining. In fact we always request her when making our Palo’s reservations. She sold us on her skills on our very first dinner, we like a sweet wine but don’t know anything about wines so we asked her to make a recommendation and she brought us a bottle of Trentino Moscatto. This is now my favorite wine.
David has a thing for omelets and his favorite thing to do is let the chef at Palo’s have Carte Blanche in preparing his omelet. On this trip the chef was French and he made an omelet with eggs, cheesecake, orange marmalade, sponge cake and sprinkled sugar. You may think oh how odd, but let me assure you that the taste was amazing. Besides the omelet we perused the buffet for the shrimp, crab, bacon wrapped scallops, the cheese and bread. Of course we couldn’t forget the Stolen bread with cream and jam which was a must have.
We also tried high teas for the first time. It was everything I remembered high tea to be. I haven’t been to a tea room in 10 years since I visited England. This brought back many memories. The taste of hot scones with real clotted cream and raspberry preserves, finger sandwiches consisting of Chicken Curry, Norwegian Prawn, Smoked salmon, and Cucumber. The tea was amazing, I tried an English breakfast and David has a Chamomile and Peppermint. For desert Trifle and Chocolate éclairs. I will definitely book another high tea.
The dinners were as elegant and romantic as ever, a seat by the window watching the sunset. We shared a bottle or 2 of Moscatto, had a wonderful relaxing dinner without the kids. What did we do with the kids do you ask? Well they went to dinner in the dining room, our regular wait staff servers Samier and Patricio, adored the kids and invited them to have to have dinner in the dining room without us. You want to talk about 2 kids on cloud nine, they felt like hot stuff. We went to join them for a 2nd desert, the first was Chocolate Soufflé and the show but they had already headed back to the club. I must admit I was so proud when the passengers and staff at the tables around our area were so complimentary about the behavior of my two boys.
