Page 3 - Tibet Exhibit
Following the dinosaur exhibit, we found ourselves in the Tibet exhibit.  This consisted of a number of great dioramas of the animals, places, people and the culture of Tibet.

Here are a couple of detail shots of the animals found there.  The vultures were quite realistic and well done.

There was also a couple great temples to the Tibetan dieties.  One is not pictured, but the one shown was nearly as cool!

Also included were details of the people and how they lived.  This illustrate in detail their clothing, living conditions and habits and what they lived in.

The Potala, seat of the Tibetan Gootkönige, the Dalai Lamas, is one of the most interesting buildings of the world.  [From the Plaque - Der Potala, Sitz der tibetischen Gootkönige, der Dalai Lamas, ist eines der interessantesten Bauwerke der Welt.] This final diorama was truly exciting just to see.  The detail shown was nearly breath-taking!

The final picture here is of a diorama I did not understand due to my limited German.  It appears that it illustrated the way they disposed of the bodies of the dead where there were no trees.  They could not burn the bodies, so they laid them out for the vultures to have first.  Then the bones were ground.  According to their beliefs, the soul paused for a while in its own 'soul cloister' until it was reborn in a new body, animal or human. [From the Plaque - Leichenbestattung in baumfreien Gegenden Tibets.
